DANBRU and The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF) Team Up

I was able to attend last years annual Rod Carew Golf Classic benefiting The Pediatric Cancer Rodney and I from years backResearch Foundation and I just cannot say enough about this event. The golf classic is an event put on by Rod Carew, local businesses in Southern California and The PCRF. DANBRU has sponsored this event for years and it still has such a profound impact on the children and people involved.

I was honored to first attend the event back in 2002 and I must say, it has stuck with me all these years. I remember not knowing what to expect the first time I attended the golf classic, and quite frankly, I was pretty much there for the golf! After the golf outing concluded, the event continued with a dinner, silent/live auction and speeches from the children affected by pediatric cancer. It must say, what happen that evening change a lot for me.

Jammin' along to outdoor music, bidding on the silent auction and walking around networking with people quickly made way to dinner. We all sat down outside dining and while being entertained by the live auctioneer (who's mouth seemed to move 2,000 miles a minute) the children who had been helping out on the course all day started to take their places toward the front of the stage. As the live auction and the dinner concluded, we all began to remember why we were in the first place - to raise awareness and funds to help fight pediatric cancer.

The children at the front of the stage started telling their personal stories, stories of a childhood and a lifetime of struggles with different forms of cancer. As I listened to the stories, I started to think about my life and our involvement in this great cause. We decided that we would make this a mission for our company and ourselves to be involved.

Rod Carew puts on the event every year and to this day is one of the nicest people you will meet. He will admit that he is not best golfer, but everyone who attends the event knows where he is focusing his efforts.
